Description & Function:

WeightIt® is a clear heavy liquid used to increase the specific gravity or density of a KB slurry. WeightIt also mildly increases the soft-grouting effect of the SlurryPro® or SlurryShield® membrane in low cohesion soils. KB's SlurryPro CDP System is the most advanced and innovative system in the marketplace.

General Application Instructions:

WeightIt is a specialized synthetic additive for use in densifying a SlurryPro or SlurryShield System. WeightIt does not add mineral or hydratable colloids to the slurry system, as do traditional weighting agents such as barite and hematite. Therefore, there will not be degradation to skin friction and rebar bonding values of the slurry when the S. G. is increased. The general guidelines for adding WeightIt are to add the product slowly in 15 to 50 gallon or 57 to 190 liter increments directly to the slurry in the mix tank or excavation until the desired specific gravity is achieved. Typically KB recommends slurry densification to be additionally augmented with 0.5 to 0.75% by volume, of SandSeal to assist in economics. See KB's SandSeal Data Sheet for further instructions on its application.

WeightIt also mildly assist in increasing KB's SlurryPro System's earth stabilization effects of low cohesion soils through enhancing SlurryPro CDP's and SlurryShield's soil grouting effects.

When excavating more challenging formations, KB International's System additives, including WeightIt, should be utilized in combination with a SlurryPro or SlurryShield system to increase slurry stabilization performance. The more challenging the formation type the more requirements for various SlurryPro Specialty Additives.

Unusual site conditions may arise during actual excavation, in which case the recommendations from KB technical personnel must always be followed.

Special Operational Precautions and Instructions:

The specific gravity range for the slurry should be maintained from 1.01 to 1.04 under normal operating conditions. If low hydrostatic conditions are encountered where the water table is less than 3 meters (10 feet) beneath the slurry level, the specific gravity of the slurry should be increased as required using WeightIt or a combination of WeightIt™ and SandSeal™ to raise the slurry S.G. accordingly.

Due to the unique characteristics of a KB Earth Stabilization System as compared to bentonite, several key operational procedures should be modified from bentonite systems. These modifications will have a major impact on the overall effectiveness and successful use of KB International's Earth Stabilization Systems. For smaller projects, please consult KB International's "General Operating, Product Addition and Testing Procedures." For larger or more complicated projects, please contact KB International for specific project planning.

Packaging:

WeightIt is available in: 20 liter / 5 gallon resealable plastic pails (60 lbs.)
