Syntolite

SynTolite is a blend of synthetic and natural polymers designed to improve the rheological properties of lower grades of bentonite. SynTolite can be used as a secondary additive to work with other common materials such as thinners, fluid loss control agents or loss circulation materials. At higher concentrations, SynTolite can be used as the primary additive to totally replace these compounds. This SynTolite/Bentonite fluid is no longer subject to many of the detrimental factors that affect conventional bentonite slurries. Hydration of water sensitive clays and shales is checked thereby inhibiting the creation of excavated fines. Slurry viscosity and gel strength are controlled, allowing for increased production due to the ease of cuttings transport and efficiency in spoils removal. SynTolite's attributes also extend to suppression or impediment of clay and shale build-up on a mill's cutting drum and on the face of a reverse circulation bit.

SynTolite is ready to be mixed into the bentonite slurry straight from the package. Allow this to mix for 10 to 15 minutes and you have a high performance bentonite/polymer fluid. In 90% of formation conditions no additional additives are needed to achieve exceptional preservation of very weak or highly water sensitive formations.

SynTolite is environmentally friendly and can typically meet all environmental agencies' standards for direct discharge to the environment when evaluated independently of bentonite. KB strongly recommends that you follow the specific discharge regulations and obtain appropriate regulatory approvals and permits before release of any product into the environment. If regulations require low fluid viscosity, this can be done through dilution with locally available water (pond, run off, river, ocean, etc.) or by the addition of a small quantity of a neutralizing agent.
