Cherry Street North Bridge

The Cherry Street North Bridge is Toronto’s ambitious project to connect the yet-to-be constructed Villiers Island to mainland Toronto. One of four new bridges being built, Cherry Street North is made for Light Rail Trains and comes 57 meters long. Foundation Contractor GFL handled the installation of the drilled shafts. KB was selected as a supplier of support fluid due to our experience in the area and on-site technical service capabilities.

The project consisted of with a 2.4-meter diameter caissons going 50-meters deep. The soil consisted of dense and silty sand with organics present. Groundwater was at 1.5 meters below grade which required elevated casing to maintain head pressure. KB is proud to play a role in projects benefitting local economies and global infrastructure.
