The Réseau Express Métropolitain (REM) LRT in Montréal, Quebec is the biggest construction project undertaken in Quebec in the last 50 years. This 67-kilometer line comes with a price tag of $6.5 billion. Aecon Foundation submitted a proposal the use of KB’s polymer as its use was fairly new for the province. It was accepted by the Client and used successfully to drill 2.4-meter-diameter, 30-meter-deep piles for the elevated guideway at the West Island sector during 2019 and 2020. Challenges included preventing fluid loss in clean cobbles with the use of Magma-Fiber.
